Torreon

Torreon is located on NM State Route 55 on the eastern slopes of the Manzano Mountains. It is a wonderful small mountain town with a population of 326. Just west of town about 30 minutes is the Cibola National Forest Fourth of July Trailhead. Also, in the area are two camp and retreat centers: Inlow Baptist Camp and Conference Center and Manzano Mountain Retreat.

Tajique

Tajique is the common name for the community and surrounding area while the formal official name is the Tajique Census Designated Place. It is a community located in Torrance County at an elevation of 6,703 feet. The current population is 131. The formal boundaries for the comunity encompass a land area of 2.7 sq. miles. It is only 15 minutes from Estancia and less than an hour to Albuquerque.

Today it is known for its outdoor adventure for hikers and bikers. The Loop, as it is commonly referred to, is a 14 mile Forest Service road that begins in Tajique and ends in Torreon.
