Manzano is the common name for the community and surrounding area while the formal official name is the Manzano Census Designated Place. The elevation is 6,860 feet with a population of 29. This small area has a rich history that you can read about on New Mexico History website. The entrance to the Manzano Mountains State Park is right off Highway 55 in the Manzano area. There is a small lake situated in the middle of the community with beautiful vies of the Manzano Mountains. It is only a short drive to Mountainair for all your basic needs.
Punta de Agua
Punta de Agua is a populated place located in Torrance County at an elevation of 6,575 feet. It is less than ten minutes from Mountainair and boasts the entrance to the Quarai Ruins, one of the Salinas Pueblo Missions. It has lots of wonderful old buildings and is authentic desert Southwest community with a mysterious history. This area of Torrance County is great for outdoor adventure and artistic expression. This is a place to really enjoy the sunsets and mountain breeze.
